IMPORTANT EXERCISES FOR THE BACK
  • Many transitions
  • Lots of canter work
    (increase and decrease size of steps)
  • Reduce lungeing to a minimum
    (places stress on the knees and other joints)
  • Ride forward and straight before starting with later work
  • Long and low exercises before collecting the horse
  • Most importantly always activate the hindlegs and decrease the weight on the forehand.
    The horse must carry itself.
